My youngest boy played football for the Bulldogs “Black” team this year with his best friend of three years. This capture was before a big game. Looking at this image, I can’t help but look forward to these boys growing up together, becoming young men together, and many more football games over the years, and those two looking up into the stands, then over at one another, as they take the field.

And on top of that, they are still so much in love...and that was evident in every picture I took of them. They were so much fun to work with, and such an inspiring couple.

Yesterday, I posted some of baby L’s pics from her newborn session. We also captured some great pics of her and her super proud big brother…

This next pic is why I love being a photographer….

This was one of those unscripted moments…sublime moments…that I just love and long to capture. I didn’t prompt big brother to do this, and can only imagine what he told his new baby sister…but, it was just perfectly sweet. Made my heart swell, and they aren’t even mine!!

Big brother was such a big helper and even captured some of his own moments, on his camera…

There isn’t much that’s more beautiful than a mother and her newborn…

I'm coming up on my one year anniversary of starting this little photography venture of mine, and I have thoroughly enjoyed every single session!

It has been so much fun working with my clients and watching their children grow, their families grow, and myself grow, as a photographer!

I recently began to pursue another passion of mine, and started Nursing School last week! Another venture that I'm sure will be just as fun and rewarding as photography has been!

I do not want to give up photography, and working with so many wonderful families, but, my time has become a bit more valuable to me, as I find the balance between chasing all of my passions and dreams, spending time with my own family and children, and earning a little extra money to help pay for my education.

Effective September 1, 2010, I have made some changes to my pricing.

I had the pleasure of shooting my cousin’s daughter’s senior pictures the other day! Yesterday, this little girl was about eight years old, and today, she’s about to start her senior year, and making college plans for Penn State, and law school!

Please tell me that my own kids won’t grow up that fast!!!

What to wear...

Often, I get asked what I recommend a client wear for their session.

I always advise coordinating, complimenting colors for families, or siblings, rather than identical colors, or outfits.

I also advise clients to stay away from everyone wearing solid black. The black clothing forms a background of sorts, and sometimes, the photos can look like a family of floating heads!

I advise that clients be careful with white clothing. White will be the brightest part of the picture, and will naturally draw your eye directly to it, rather the face of the adorable little cherub who is wearing the white clothing.

Just a few helpful tips to make your session even better!!

For examples, I found Little Avocado Photography. She takes amazing pics, and has a wicked fashion sense!! I hope she doesn't mind me linking her blog.

Beautiful Brown-Eyed Birthday Girl…

I first photographed this gorgeous girl and her family, back in November. She was just four months old…

I photographed her family again in the spring, and watched a bit of her personality emerge…

But, often when I got to see this dumpling during a session, she would take back seat to her two older brothers. They would be here, there, and everywhere, and she was the easy going one, content to sit and watch the boys bustle about.

She turned a year old, and this most recent session with one of my favorite families, was all about this brown-eyed beauty!

I had such a great time with her as the center of my attention, and thoroughly enjoyed watching her crawl

I have to admit that when she told me that the session was for her three boys, and told me their ages, I was a tad bit anxious. I knew that we’d have a decent shoot, and that we’d get great pictures, but, if I’m being honest, I thought they might be tough to manage, as my experience has told me, that boys can often be.

Not these boys. They were wonderful!!

A fun way to get a few free pictures of your kids, is to gather four of your friends, and their kids, and book a photo party!!

It’s $25 for a 15 minute mini session, at a location of your choice, or mine, if you’d like.

During that 15 minute session, I typically get anywhere from 10-15 edited proofs to send you via email, for selections. Your session comes with three of those pictures on a disk, free of any watermark, or logo, for you to print where ever you choose.

If there are more than three pics that you like, I can add pictures to your disk for $10 each.

A client/friend referred this family to me, and I am so glad she did. They were a blast to work with, and stunningly gorgeous and photogenic, to boot!! They were those kind people that you just feel like you’ve known forever…even though it’s the first time you’ve met!

Fun and friendly family + beautiful, happy kids = so many great pictures, that it was hard for me to pick just a few favorites to share!!

Gave it a whirl…

A wedding photographer, I am not…but, that didn’t keep me from giving it a whirl. It was a small, laid back affair…a cousin of a friend from high school. It was supposed to be an outdoor wedding…which is one of the only reasons I thought I might be able to pull it off.

Rule number 1, in wedding photography…never, ever, trust the weather to do what it is supposed to do, or rather, what you need it to do!!

It rained…on the big day! Ironic…cliche…and a total a cog in the gears of my confidence!!

But, I did my best, and while the pics weren’t as good as I’d hoped…this one picture, made it all worth it for me!

I only hope the same was so for the bride!!

A client hosted a bluebonnet photo party, and I had the pleasure of working with these sweet girls. They were adorable, and had perfect personalities to match! My favorite shoots are the ones where I get to really talk to, interact, and connect with the kids. It helps them to be more comfortable in front of the camera, and it’s just a lot more fun!!

I had a blast with these girls. Chatting with them, watching them run and play, and capturing their classic beauty!!

I took pictures of this family the day after Christmas, and it was cold, windy, and miserable. The kids were crying, and very few pictures turned out. She gave me a second shot at it, on a beautiful day after the new year...and I had such a great time following these kids (and Dad) around with a camera!

I had a photo party a couple of weeks ago. A friend of mine hosted it, and invited her friends. I charged $25 for a 15 minute mini-session, and that included three poses on a disk. Additional poses could be purchased for $10 each. It went off without a hitch, and was a ton of fun to meet new people.

Mini Session fee is $50

Great for holiday cards, birthdays or invites, or family pictures without individuals!!

A Mini Session includes the following:

- 30 minute session on location in the Rockwall area, or Royse City. Mini sessions can be done at Harry Myers Park, The Harbor on Lake Ray Hubbard, the train tracks at Turtle Cove, the Historic Town Square in Rockwall, or the rustic downtown area of Royse City. Your choice!

- The sitting for up to five people. Please add $5 for each additional person.

- Three edited pictures ON A DISK for you to keep** You will receive approximately 8-10 photo proofs via email. You will choose your 3 poses from these proofs.

- OR...you can purchase all the edited photos from your session, the entire disk (up to 10 pictures), for an additional $35!

- Once you make your selections, your disk will be mailed to you directly.

Full Session fee is $100

A Full Session includes the following:

- One hour session on location*

- Sitting fee for up to a family of 5. Please add $5 for each additional person.

- I will take group shots (siblings, groups, or family and/or couples) plus individuals of the kids.

- 6 edited pictures ON A DISK for you to keep** You will receive approximately 15-20 photo proofs via email. You will choose your 6 poses from these proofs. Additional poses can be purchased, and added to your disk, for $10 each.

- OR...all the edited files (up to 20) from your session can be purchased for $50!!!

- Once your photos/poses are chosen, your disk will be mailed directly to you.

*I am east of the Rockwall area (east of Dallas) and will travel up to a 20 mile radius. Please note that a travel fee may be added for locations further than that.

**The photos will be creatively and artistically edited and free of any watermark or copyright. While you will have rights to the photos, I will maintain rights to them as well, to be used in advertising, websites, and marketing.

Meet the Photographer…

I’m a thirty something, wife and mother, who is on a path to pursue my dreams. I’ve spent my twenties staying at home, raising my children, and now that they are school-aged, I am spending my thirties, doing what I love.
I have always enjoyed photography, and as a single income family, I couldn’t always afford to hire a professional to photograph my kids. I did the best I could with my point and shoot camera, and captured some amazing moments with my children. Last year, I upgraded to my first DSLR camera, and the world of photography opened up for me. I’m learning as I go, and enjoying the process.
The most important thing that I’ve learned, is that my favorite pictures, are not usually the ones with the perfect poses, and plastered on smiles. They are the ones that capture a moment. A real moment in time.
The laughter. The tears. Wandering eyes. Mischievous smiles. The wide-eyed wonder of an exploring toddler, and the tantrums that same little person can throw. Silliness. Seriousness. Sadness. Joy.
Life. Life is what I strive to capture.
